 Level 3: NOM Hub Representative
Scale & Sustain the Nation of Makers

Who is this level for?

  • If you’re at this level, you’ve completed Level 1 and Level 2, which means you understand the mission, vision and goals of Nation of Makers, and have demonstrated a deeper commitment to Nation of Makers, having served as a connector for at least one year. 

  • Level 3 is for those volunteers who are able to devote a reasonable amount of time to the work of Nation of Makers (greater than 20 hours/month). 

  • Level 3 is for those volunteers who would be interested in grant-writing with Nation of Makers at the local, state, and/or Federal level.

  • Note: Subject to the status of funding opportunities (on a case by case basis), this position may be partially or fully compensated. In addition, active NoM Representatives (those having served more than 20 hours/month throughout the year) will receive complimentary registration for NOMCON, and will receive an official Nation of Makers’ email address.

Goals/Benefits for each Representative:

  • Level 3 is about scaling and sustaining Nation of Makers, as a community, and as an organization

  • In this role, you will be expected to identify and apply to at least 3 funding sources per year in collaboration with Nation of Makers. The funds received will be used to fund the Nation of Makers work in your state or region, which may include time and materials.

  • You will build deeper relationships and partnerships with local stakeholders and organizations.

  • In this role, you may be asked to represent Nation of Makers as a volunteer at local events.

  • You will work with the Nation of Makers’ Executive Director to develop a regional outreach, advocacy, and  communications plan for Nation of Makers.

  • You will work with any Nation of Makers’ Connectors and Advocates in your State and/or Region to ensure clarity of communication, and to facilitate local Nation of Makers’ community building.

  • You will  work with your colleagues  across the Nation of Makers’ Connectors and Advocates group to share best practices, pain points, and to promote a sense of community across the Nation of Makers.

  • Be recognized for your work to scale and sustain the Nation of Makers!

ACTION ITEMS:

Right Away:

Within Three Months:

  • Plan: Identify local Connectors and Advocates within your geographic region 

  • Plan: Identify local funding sources for funding of NoM’s work

Within Six  Months:

  • Engage: Coordinate a monthly standup meeting with Nation of Makers’ Executive Director 

  • Engage: Work with Nation of Makers’ Executive Director to develop a regional outreach, advocacy, and  communications plan for Nation of Makers

  • Engage: Encourage other organizations to join NoM and NoM projects, such as the Annual Survey of Makerspaces

  • Act: Represent NoM at local events

  • Act: Apply to at least 3 local funding sources per year in collaboration with Nation of Makers

  • Document: Document successes, feedback, and areas for improvement

  • Dialogue and Report: Report back outcomes of the meeting and follow up/action items to Nation of Makers
